Cookie Policy

Effective May 10, 2026

What we store in your browser, why, and how to control it. No advertising, no cross-site tracking.

This Cookie Policy explains how RemotIQ Pty Ltd uses cookies and similar local-storage technologies on remotiq.com.au. It complements (does not replace) our Privacy Policy. By using the site, you agree to our use of cookies as described here. You can change your preferences at any time through the cookie banner or your browser settings.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. Cookies let a site remember information about your visit so you do not have to re-enter it. Most modern websites also use related browser-level storage mechanisms — localStorage and sessionStorage — that work similarly for storing small amounts of data. For simplicity, this policy uses cookies to refer collectively to all of these.

Cookies we use

We use a deliberately small number of cookies. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking, and we do not load any analytics tags that profile you across the open web.

Strictly necessary

These are required for the site to work. Theme preference (localStorage key remotiq:theme) — remembers Light/Dark/System mode. Locale-suggestion state (remotiq:locale-suggestion) — records whether you have already seen and dismissed the language modal so we do not show it on every visit. Cookie consent state (remotiq:cookie-consent) — remembers your choice on the banner. All three persist on your device until you clear them.

Performance and analytics

We currently do not use any analytics or performance-measurement cookies. If we add a privacy-respecting analytics solution (for example, Plausible or self-hosted Umami), we will update this list, classify the cookie clearly, and show you a consent prompt before any analytics cookie is set.

Marketing

We do not use marketing cookies. We do not retarget you based on your visit, and we do not sell or share your visit data with advertising networks.

Third-party cookies and embedded resources

Some pages embed resources hosted by third parties — for example, the OpenStreetMap-style map tiles on the About page (provided by CARTO) and our typography (provided by a font CDN). When your browser fetches those resources, the third party may set cookies under their own domain. We do not control those cookies; their use is governed by the third party's own privacy policy. We deliberately use providers that do not set marketing or tracking cookies as part of their default behaviour.

How long cookies last

The strictly-necessary localStorage entries listed above persist on your device until you clear them. There is no server-side expiry; if you change browser, device, or clear browser storage, the entries are gone.

How to control cookies

You can manage your cookie preferences in three ways. Through the cookie banner shown on first visit, where you can accept or dismiss. Through your browser settings, which let you block cookies on a per-site basis or clear them entirely; major browsers also offer a private or incognito mode that disables persistent cookies for that session. By clearing your browser localStorage for our site — in Chrome and Firefox, open developer tools, navigate to Application/Storage, find the entry for remotiq.com.au, and clear; doing this resets your theme and language preferences.

Do Not Track

Some browsers send a Do Not Track (DNT) signal to express a preference not to be tracked. Because we do not perform cross-site tracking and do not load advertising or behavioural-targeting tags, DNT does not change our behaviour — there is nothing for it to disable.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when we add or remove a cookie or change how we use one. The effective date below indicates when the current version was published. For material changes — for example, adding any new analytics or marketing cookies — we will refresh the cookie banner so you can re-confirm your consent.
